In an interview with Ecuadorian journalists published by local portal ‘La Hora,’ LDU midfielder and captain Lucas Piovi shared his thoughts on the upcoming match against Fluminense in the 2024 South American Recopa.
Piovi mentioned that Fluminense is widely regarded as the strongest opponent in South America due to the quality of their players, but he reassured that LDU is preparing in the best possible way and has a great team.
The Tricolor will face the Ecuadorian side at Maracanã stadium at 9:30 PM on Thursday. To claim the title, Fluminense needs to win by a two-goal margin as they suffered a 1-0 defeat in the first leg. If Fluminense wins by the same margin, an extra time consisting of two 15-minute halves will be played. If the match remains a draw after extra time, the winner will be decided through a penalty shootout.
