Victor Lessa, a journalist, explained the strategic decision of Fluminense through his YouTube channel. The club chose to rescind the contract of striker Willian Bigode, who was recently announced as a reinforcement for Santos this season.
According to the reporter, the board understood that it would be financially more advantageous to pay the player’s termination fee than to loan him to the São Paulo club, paying half of his salary until December 2024.
Fluminense will pay the termination fee over the next few months, and the amount of the termination fee will be lower than what the club would have paid in case of a loan. Therefore, Willian is leaving Fluminense and permanently joining Santos.
