Fluminense's Plans for Player Sales

31 janeiro 19:7 Fluminense's Plans for Player Sales

Like all clubs in Brazil, Fluminense, a training club, profits from the sale of homegrown players. In addition to the big sales, the Tricolor also intends to make smaller deals in the future, as explained by President Mário Bittencourt. The president spoke about the planning in a press conference last Tuesday.

«In terms of players, Fluminense should be proud to have Xerém and be one of the biggest sellers in Brazil. Fluminense has remained standing not only during my tenure but also in the past. If it’s still alive in 2019, it’s because there were players to sell. Our average annual revenue is about 26 million reais. We are a selling club. Besides the big sales, I also hope to start making some smaller sales of players who we feel will not have opportunities here. Unfortunately, the CBF ended the under-23 Brazilian Championship. They would have played in that tournament. We need to start creating a pathway here, in addition to the big sales, to make some smaller ones for these players who will not be used, keeping a percentage and making this turnover,» he said.

Fluminense had an aspiring team, which was discontinued in January 2023 with the information that the CBF would no longer hold the Brazilian Championship for this category. The Tricolor competed in the tournament three times: in 2020, 2021, and 2022. The best campaign was in 2021 when they reached the semifinals. In the other times, they did not advance past the group stage.
