Maurício, a promising talent from Fluminense’s youth academy, recently expressed his thoughts on the upcoming Recopa clash between Fluminense and LDU from Ecuador. This is the same team that denied Fluminense their chance at glory 15 years ago in the Libertadores.
Reflecting on the past, Maurício stated, ‘The memories definitely resurface, that’s a fact, because it was something we aspired to but couldn’t achieve. However, the following year, we had the opportunity to turn things around (in 2009).’ He referred to their victory in the Sul-Americana tournament as a way of redeeming themselves, while also emphasizing that the lingering frustration from the Libertadores did not consume them.
