The President of FIFA, Gianni Infantino, has issued an official statement advocating for automatic defeat in cases of racism in football. The declaration was prompted by another sad incident involving prejudice, this time in Italy.
Goalkeeper Maignan fell victim to racism in the match between Milan (ITA) and Udinese (ITA) in the Italian Championship. The game was halted for approximately five minutes, and the players even left the field in protest.
«We must implement automatic defeat for the team whose fans commit racism and cause the abandonment of the match, as well as worldwide stadium bans and criminal charges for racists,» Infantino said.
